Elder Abuse training how good is it?

I've sat in on training in elder abuse. It is very formal because of course this is a serious subject. The trainer talks about the law, the types of abuse and what needs to be done. He or she shows videos, role plays or talks to a power point. Sometimes care staff have to show what they know either written or verbal. But how much do they know? What if it was a friend who was being abusive? What would they do?
