Have you talked to a person with dementia?

I sat down on a garden seat and a person came and sat next to me. At first she was hesitant. She said that she forgot things. I said I sometimes forget too. Sometimes she couldn't find the words. We talked about our families. She said she knew she can't leave this place by herself. She said she didn't mind it was quite nice here. (Although she seemed a little sad.) We laughed and talked for a while. I said I had to go. Then I was sad.
