Mum lost her leg about the time dementia really started to grip. A friend told her that she could get a new artificial leg and then she would be fine (read go home). Mum was never the one to push herself. The amputation of her leg resulted in her moving into a care home. And she just sat in the wheel chair. Sat and brooded. When I visited sometimes she would be crying, devastated. Why? Because she had just been told that they couldn’t give her a new leg. It was Ground Hog Day. She forgot she had already been told she would have to remain in a wheelchair and so would stay
in the care home.
