Scars

I’ve seen many older bodies. The skin needs a little help to regain its softness using moisturiser. The loose skin cascades fold over fold. Some bits go missing, like a breast or a leg. Scars feature a lot on the landscape. Some settle becoming pale white lines. Others are red and raw from recent battles. I like the word battle. With age you become less sensitive to them. Scars may represent life battles as hidden bits go missing. I accept my own scars more easily having worked alongside older people. We all end up with war stories to tell. Mine have been skirmishes so far.
