Soapy sweets

Note to all: do not give people with dementia fancy small soaps that look like food. One Christmas someone bought small soaps shaped like a strawberry and coloured pink for all the women. Not all soaps were the same shape, some soaps had different fruit shapes and colours. The soaps were nicely arranged in a small cane dish along with a face washer and wrapped in cellophane. All the women in the home received the soaps. The men had something different. One of the women in the secure unit started to eat the soap because it really could be mistaken for real strawberries. All the soaps disappeared very quickly and were replaced with another gift. The pink strawberry soaps did look pretty on a green face washer bed. One more gift suggestion crossed of the list for next year.
