The Many Paths of Dementia

If you have been around people with dementia for a while, you get to know it. Each person makes a difference to how it plays out. Even so different dementias follow a similar path. Some people really suffer with changes to their personality. One man might become quite loud and not like people touching him. It makes showering and dressing very difficult. You may need two to shower with one saying nothing and the other talking. Another man paces, always pacing. You even have to give food on the run. Finger food is good. A woman may sit singing and smiling at everyone. Another keeps repeating words or sounds. And behind it all you keep looking for the person within.
