Mum was always there

He said “Mum always looked after me”. She didn’t say much and would agree with everyone. During meals, she ate and served all the others. Not one for going out, she much preferred staying home. She never worked outside of the family home. Hardly ever a cross-word, she didn’t talk much even at the family gatherings throughout the years. As kids, when they went home, she greeted them at the door with a snack. It was enough that she was there. Sometimes, words fail to show her lifetime achievements. But with her going, the loss is immense.
