He sits with his cup of tea, looking out at the paddocks. You know from the way the carer talks to him that he belongs. They have to make sure new visitors don’t let him out of the area. He is well dressed and he can still chat about the football. Last week was his 46th birthday. Six months ago no one knew what was ahead. He waits for his family to take him out for lunch. Sometimes he asks why he lives here now. He isn’t sure why there are so many older people living in his new home. He waits for his dog to appear at the window. Both get so excited when they see it other.
