The Parting of the Ways

The two women slowly make their way down the passageway. The chat comfortably. As old friends do. In the middle of the sentence, they begin to part. One moves to the right and the other to the left as they come to the stairs. Each grabs the hand rail and begins the descent. They look across to the other realising what they had done. They give a little laugh and the return their gaze to the steps. When they reach the lower ground they met up again. Nothing had to be said. Both are of the age when descending stairs must be paid attention to, to avoid falls.
